A bear is distracted to enable its cage to be unlocked. A medical ultrasound machine is used to locate the gall bladder and then a 50 ml syringe is used to extract bile from an Asian black bear (Selenarctos thibethanus) in Hanoi, Vietnam. Bears are kept to provide bile which is used in Traditional Asian Medicine
